Leahmontaine Barrow, LCSW

I am a  Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I graduated from California State University San Bernardino in 2011 with a degree in Sociology and then attended the University of Southern California in 2016, where I received a Master's Degree in Social Work.

I believe each person who walks into my office is a unique and whole person who deserves to be met where they are and determine where they want to be. As a therapist I am for you, and will offer encouragement, ask questions that get you to think and gently challenge barriers and beliefs that hold you back and stop you from living your best life. I work with people struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety and I collaborate with them as they work to meet and manage the impact those symptoms have on their lives, relationships, and work. In my work with people, I not only guide them as they deal with current issues. I also help them to consider and link how past experiences such as attachment, trauma, grief and loss may be impacting their lives. Contact me if you are looking for a space to talk through and work on the things that are hurting you and holding you back

I believe that support is something we are all in constant need of. As a person who moves through the world, constantly shifting from one place or situation to another, I understand the feeling that I am just leaving pieces of myself behind in as I move forward. Coming together with like-minded people to talk through the realities of life and to build connection is something harder to do for some than others. Support groups are one of the best was to not only feel seen, but to help others feel seen in return.

I have a Bachelors degree in Family and Consumer Science and Child Development & Family Studies, from California State University, Long Beach. I received a Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University, San Jose and am an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW). I have experience working with Children and family’s across a broad range of life stages and love it.

I chose therapy as professional practice as I believe therapy may serve as a healing journey, a tool for growth, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and how our environment shapes who we become as an adult

I have previously conducted therapy on a client needs basis (i.e. goal oriented), psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and art therapy with young children. Most of my professional experience revolves in working with young children, school aged-children, youth and young adults.
